Shout out to Leesa Renee Hall for the prompt today to think about the first time I was conscious about race. This poem is based on a story that has been told to me for years. I'm learning that it's better to talk about race than deny its existence and trying to pay attention and do more good than harm.
I did have to stay inside somewhat today. Got out there a few times. It was lovely.
