I hope be planting a hydrangea in my backyard shortly and called the hotline that has utility companies come mark the area to be dug up for wires and cables. The six or seven companies have been arriving sporadically to survey the ground and mark it with paint and flags. Today as I was on my back deck watering my plants, one of the utility workers arrived and was swearing up a storm complaining about x!%@(* homeowners (me). Now, I don't know what happened in his morning to have put him in such a foul mood and I actually had two thoughts for this man. The first was that I pitied him, for having such a skewed perception of the difficulties human beings can face to be upset at where I want to plant a flower. My second thought was at the hilarity of the situation, that he was cursing like a sailor about hydrangeas. To whoever you were, sir, may your mornings never be as rough as when you swore about the flowers and may you gain new perspective and calm to face life's challenges with humor.
I really no nothing about what it's like to be an EMT and yet, I can't help but wonder if this is what it's like:
A double-edged sword. Bittersweet. A gift and a curse. I live a charmed-life. Thank you, public libraries.
Saw a dude carrying three plastic water bottles into the gym, three. It's called a drinking fountain.
We've got a maelstrom of indignity and justification of maltreatment happening with freedom as a scapegoat right now. Today's poem was inspired by my amazing co-workers who shared their stories of how they came to live in the United States of America. Thank you for helping me to know your experience.
You can complain about the weather when it's sunny. You can complain about the weather when it's cold. Or, you can smile because there is weather.
It was an incredibly beautiful day in Minnesota today and everyone was out in their summer wear with bright smiles and laughter.
In my high school biology class, my teacher declared that there were two types of people in the world, "lumpers" vs. "splitters" and that much of any controversy in the world of biology stems down to that issue. I think the "lumpers" vs. "splitters" battle can be found any where I look. Are things more the same? Or different?
I spent a larger part of my day in an cellular phone service store and on the phone with their customer service overseas. Global connectivity is real.
Inspired by me trying to go through a single occupancy rotating door with a co-worker at the same time. I can't stop laughing about it. He took it in stride. #wedidntquitefit
One of the most fascinating term papers I ever wrote was about the life of Socrates. Teaching through questioning is one of the most effective teaching methods as it allows the student to reason through her own arguments.
